Blog post 16: A learning community

If you want to get into the logistics of what a learning community is, it's a learning community where a group of students share common academic goals and work collaboratively in the classroom with one or more educational leaders. To me, it's so much more than that definition. In my eyes, a learning community is while yes a group of students who share the same academic goals but it's also about each student gaining knowledge off of one another and learning about themselves as they grow In the classroom. There is an abundant amount of reason why a learning community is important, for one, the cliche saying of "two is better than one" regions true. When students and teachers can come together and grow from one another and share their ideas and build off one another it changes the curriculum to be goal oriented and powerful. Lastly, A Learning community provides a space and a structure for people to share a common goal and work towards it as one. Learning communities allow students to share results, ideas and learn from each other, which is continuously improving their ability to achieve that goal on a more powerful level.
