What's one weird underrated quality you find attractive in a person? Why?

I am choosing to go simple here but one weird underrated quality I find attractive in a person is if they are handy. I was raised in a household with a father who can fix or make just about anything! I grew up watching my dad do anything my mom, my siblings, or myself needed to be done which inclined me to become creative and efficient when I needed something done on my own, this trait is especially perfect since I am away to college in my own now! I think someone who is handy has an underrated quality because oftentimes it is very overlooked because. You can always call someone for help or pay someone to do it but at the end of the day, it is more convenient to be able to do those things on your own.

If you could be born in another era in history, which would you choose? Why?

If I could choose one era in history to live in, it with no hesitation would be in the 50s! I am someone who is very much into fashion and I am so intrigued by the fashion women had back then, the puffy skirts, kinky hair, and big floppy hats. The 50s was also a great era of music which are now obviously considered oldies.  Lastly, I am someone who is a hopeless romantic and that’s probably one of the main reasons I would want to experience the 50s. Sharing milkshakes at a diner or going to see a black and white movie. Men seemed to be quite chivalrous back then so that’s something I would want to experience too, no social media or texting meeting face to face and meeting the way two people really should.

When I am angry, I tend to...

I am not proud of this but when I am angry I tend to take it out on other people and say things I don’t mean to say because sometimes blaming others is easier than blaming yourself and admitting we're wrong. Were humans, most people tend to do that. Sometimes when I am angry, I tend to even cry because I am someone who allows me to get worked up because I am the type of person that needs everything to go the right way and if not, it causes me a lot of stress resorting in anger. One thing I am proud to admit though is that as I grow older, I am able to cope with anger a lot better than I ever have. So, in recent situations, when I am angry, I now tend to put my phone down so I can’t allow myself to say or do things I will regret. Being angry is a part of being human but there always is a correct response.

If your life were a video game, which level would be the most difficult to get through? Why?

I have dealt with a lot of difficult things in my life but the hardest “level” is level 14, which was when I was 14 years old in my case. This year of my life I lost my grandmother due to her being so sick, which made it worse because of how young she was, 67. My grandma was not ever a healthy person and spent years in and out of the hospital. Therefore, when my grandma never did leave the hospital this time it was a complete shock for not only me but my entire family as well. We were so used to the fact of her coming home every hospital visit that when she didn’t this time it hit us all like a truck. I felt like I not only lost my grandmother but one of my best friends and the glue that help my family together. It has now been 7 more “levels” since her passing and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think of her, she crosses my mind at least once a day. I am at a point where each level that goes by doesn’t hurt as much but the feeling of missing her presence, soft hands, and contagious laugh remains the same.

What is one phrase you wish you could ban from everyone's vocabulary? Why?

If there was one phrase I wish I could ban from everyone's vocabulary, it would be "it's okay to not be okay" while most of you think that could come off a cruel here is why I say that. We live in a society where mental health is a huge thing and suffering in silence is as well so "not being ok" shouldn't be an option. We should be encouraging those who suffer from poor mental health to be reaching out for help instead of "not being okay" I understand the meaning behind that phrase but I look at it in a way that while it's okay to struggle it shouldn't be continuous, not encouraged. If I could rephrase it I would make it say "It's okay to reach out when not okay" so we make it aware and known getting help is okay for when there are times you need it.

If you could become Earth's official tour guide to aliens, where would you take them? Why?

If I could become a tour guide for the earth, to aliens I would immediately take them to New York. City. While it may sound strange it is my all-time favorite place in the world (I have been to a lot of states and countries) I feel that everyone and anyone should experience life in NY and here is why. Not only is it “the city that never sleeps” but is also is filled with so much simplicity. The small coffee shops and diners lined up around the streets is something I wish I could experience every day instead of having to get on a place once every few years and go. The nightlife is incredible and walking through Times Square also feels like you’re in a whole other world.

What's something about your life now you would miss when you're 80? Why?

If I could pick one thing in my life that I would miss when I am 80, I would have to say the family time I get to have now. Unfortunately, it is no surprise to us that eventually everyone passes on, gets old, and passes away. In 80 years from now I am more than aware that my parents and even now grandparents won’t be here, which is hard to accept. I will miss the family dinners with them and vacations because those things can’t last forever. The time I am in, in my life right now is what I’m going to miss most, feeling like everyone in my family and everyone I need is here.

Describe a new Olympic sport in which you would definitely win a medal.

If I were to win an Olympic medal in a new sport, the sport would easily be for being way too early to events or anything in general. I am a very anxious person who overthinks all things and tasks and even sometimes thinks of the worst possibilities that could prevent me from being on time. To give you a broader perspective I had a scheduled meeting with my professor at 1:30 pm one day last week and felt I needed to leave my apartment at 11:30 to be there on time, keep in mind I am only a 10-minute drive from campus. I eventually have to sit around and wait in my car or for things to start because I end up being way too early. I guess it's better than being late!

Imagine your daily routine had been turned into a reality show. Which parts would be most talked about? Why?

If my life and daily routine turned into a reality show, the most talked-about would probably be my morning routine. I have a very specific and organized routine, and in my mind, it's very aesthetic. I have always been one to be very specific about my coffee and breakfast and that's the first thing I always do. Whether it's an iced latte or overnight cold oats it's always so aesthetic. I say this would be the most talked-about because I feel like viewers would attempt my coffee or breakfast recipes, which is a very popular trend with people my age now. My coffee recipes and breakfast recipes are from people I watch on the internet which is another reason for me to say my morning routine would be the most talked about.

What's one sign that you would probably stay friends with someone for life? How do you know?

One sign that would keep me being friends with someone for life would be is if they were loyal and there for me no matter the reason. Having friends that care for you and help you through things is so important because it's what allows us to deal with hard situations, which are inevitable. A friend should be someone whom you can go to trust with your problems and wouldn't judge you no matter what it is. When everyone else in the world seems to be against you your friend should be the one who stuck by your side. Lastly, a friend should be honest, whether it is disagreeing or agreeing with you. A friend should have this quality because they would want it. what is best for your interest, even if it hurts or it's not the answer you wanted to hear. Friendship should be based on loyalty and honesty, thats how you know that friendship is worthwhile.

Imagine we all had to start over on Mars and you were responsible for choosing who gets to be part of Humanity 2.0. How would you decide on whom to accept?

If I had to start over on Mars and had the power to choose to would be a part of humanity 2.0 I would accept all of my family, all of my friends, and all the dogs in the world. I know, how cliche. The reason I say this is because if all of these people were on Mars with me, life would be perfect and I would be surrounded by the people who love and care for me most, what gets better than that?

Describe a moment that made you feel like a real grown-up.

A time where I felt like a grown-up was when I left for college and made my first "real" dinner, not just mac n cheese. I was always one to be a homebody and relied on my parents a lot, especially during covid because we were all home together 24/7. This august I finally left for college and am living on my own for the first time, scary but exciting at the same time. So, the first time I felt like a grown-up was when I made myself a healthy and well put together, grilled chicken, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. This is something my parents always made for dinner so I wanted to attempt kit on my own. and was successful. I know it's a small task but it's the little things that bring you joy.

If you didn't have to sleep every night, what would you do with all the extra time?

If I didn't have to sleep every night, I would take my extra time to go to the gym more and cook more homemade meals. I work out nearly every day but I feel like I always have to rush it due to other more important things I need to get done, like schoolwork and going to class overall. I am never really able to make time for myself to make a good meal either because when it comes to the end of the day, I am way too tired from school and homework to even worry about making something to eat. Eating well and working out are two things that are extremely important to me and something that keeps m happy which is why I would make extra time for those things if I didn't have to sleep every night.

What’s one weird belief you used to have when you were a kid?

I feel as if I can think of countless things I believed when I was a kid but the one, I’m choosing to share is that I genuinely thought if you ate watermelon seeds and drank water a watermelon would grow in your stomach, scary to think about when you don’t actually know how all the stuff works. Funny thing is, I tell my younger cousins this now just to get a good laugh once in a while. I remember I had to be at least 6 years old and that was probably the first time I had eaten a watermelon that wasn’t seedless, so of course, I was fascinated until my grandfather laughed and said “well don’t drink water now or you’ll be growing a watermelon inside of you” funny now but to a six-year-old it was scary. This was the biggest “Oh Crap!” moment from my prime. To this day I’m not necessarily sure when I stopped believing it but every now and then when I eat watermelon I laugh a little because what a crazy thing to believe.
