Physical-For our project we made our collage represent a game board as the stages of development in adolescents is like rolling a dice and you never know the changes you are going to land on out encounter! For the aspects of physical development, I included pictures to represent an aching back as the skeletal system and muscles are going through change, a young girl using a fan to cool down because at this age the sweat glands are developing, and third the use of deodorant to represent the age that goes through puberty changes significantly.
Social- During social development of young adolescents, they are seeking where they fit in most. We added the picture of a group of friends hanging out on their phones because social media is a big impact of young adolescents social life. We added two pictures with young adolescents questioning their situations. Young adolescents want to fit in, so they have a hard time with decision making around their peers and adults.
Emotional- For the aspect of emotional development I included an “angry brain” to represent that middle schoolers go through a significance of emotional change which can be traumatic and frustrating, I included the aspect of a relationship because at this age adolescents are discovering the attraction between peer, and last making good or bad decisions because they are going through a time where they are stuck in the middle of that “kid brain “and “grown up brain” and have to decide what is best for them.
Cognitive/Intellectual- During cognitive/intellectual development of young adolescents, they are developing more sense of awareness for what is around them. They are using their life experiences and learning to develop this awareness (Caskey & Anfara, 2014). We added a picture of young adolescents collaborating with peers because the roles in interactive experiences increases their thought processes about learning and the world. We added the picture of different things, like a light bulb and telescope because as they are growing their thought process they will be seeking more opportunities in life.
Thanks for your work on this! I like the way you all started with that underlying board game/Candy Land theme.
